Reaching Beyond the

Ordinary to Serve an Extraordinary God

We are a family of Christians, a diverse people united by Christ, with a long and rich heritage in Cedar Hill, Texas. Our history begins with gospel meetings back in the mid-1800s and our first building around 1890. Reported as one of the oldest congregations in Dallas County, we remain true to our calling of serving our Lord Jesus Christ in this area. From the days of serving God in a simple farming community, the Cedar Hill Church of Christ seeks to be relevant in a growing and transitioning community.

EXPERIENCE A LIFE-CHANGING RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

John 14:15-23 

Reaching beyond knowledge of God to experience a relationship with God that changes lives. Jesus promised that He would not abandon His disciples, but that He would ask God to send The Holy Spirit to direct them in the ways of truth. Once He was raised, we would be in union with God, the Father and Jesus, the Son.

REDISCOVER THE DEPTH OF GOD’S WORD

John 17:17 

Reaching beyond tradition to rediscover the depth of wisdom and grace in God’s Word. As the time of the crucifixion came near, Jesus prayed for God to keep His followers safe from the evil one and make them holy by truth which is the Word of God. Truth does exist and is found in the infallible Word of God.

CONNECT WITH ONE ANOTHER IN GOD’S LOVE

1 Peter 1:22 

Reaching beyond casual relationships to connect with one another with genuine acceptance and Godly love. When we accepted Jesus as our Savior, we chose to leave selfish desires so we can show sincere love for other people. As God loves, we must learn to love.

MEET GOD IN JOYFUL CELEBRATION AND PRAISE

Psalm 100:2 

Reaching beyond being present for worship to meet God in joyful celebration. With thanksgiving and praise, we worship God with gladness. Using only our voices, we sing with joy for the grace God has given us through Christ Jesus.

SHARE OUR STORIES OF GOD’S GRACE

Matthew 28:19-20 

Reaching beyond our own salvation to share the story of God’s grace and love in our lives. After His resurrection, Jesus instructed the apostles to teach others about His commandments and make them disciples. By sharing our stories, we glorify God, share His grace, and provide hope where there is none.

SERVE OTHERS TO THE GLORY OF GOD

Luke 10:25-37 

Reaching beyond our own needs to serve others in our community to the glory of God. Loving others with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind requires purposeful action. Loving others as we would ourselves requires showing mercy to people. Loving other requires that we meet the needs of other people that glorifies God.

The essence of our calling is summed up in a single word: Love.
